Stephen Mireles is a 20-year retired veteran of the Air Force, and taught himself how to paint in oils using Bob Ross’ tutorials online. With very little art work done in the past, he used Bob Ross’ “wet on wet’ oil painting techniques to learn how to paint, occasionally playing one of his old videos on YouTube and matching his movements stroke for stroke. 

Most of his art work is inspired by scenes from his time stationed in South Dakota, the deep woods of Pennsylvania, and from his home town of Galveston Texas. Being an avid Dungeons and Dragons player, he also uses scenes from his previous games to generate locations that only ever existed in his imagination. Stephen’s favorite scenes to pain involve clear night skies with millions of stars, dark woodlands, and snowcapped mountains.
